I wanted to experiment with a few paints for doing the speckles on this petite Bible. The gold and the white are subtle hues; the blue is more pronounced. Hence the name.

One thing to note with this Bible is that the inks I was experimenting with stick the pages slightly together in a number of places. You can separate these by gently pulling the pages apart, like you have to do with some stock Bibles which come with gold or silver gilding.

It is a paste-down Bible, which will serve you well as a rugged little travelling companion.

This Bible’s features:

- Book block: I used the following Bible as a base: https://www.crossway.org/bibles/esv-value-large-print-compact-bible-tru-15/. I would add to these details add the block is not sewn, but glued, therefore it will not lay flat on your desk — not that this Bible was designed for desk-reading!
- Cover: PATENT BLACK Togo grainy print textured shiny strong calf skin, from Italian Skins. As tough as it gets; this is upholstery leather! Expect a stiff cover, but softer than a hardback. The look and feel of this leather reminds me of vintage Bibles. Classy, understated.
- Liner: Arbelave Library Buckram in Cambridge Blue by J Hewit & Sons, carrying on the blue theme of the Bible.
- Ribbons, head and tail bands: black 7 mm double sided satin ribbons by J Hewit & Sons, carrying on the black theme of the Bible, further highlighted by the black head and tail bands from the original Bible.
- Page dye and speckles: Geranium from Archival Ink is the base colour, and the speckles come in blue, gold, white, from various ink brands.

I found this Bible in a book shop selling old books, and fell in love with it straigh away. Sadly, the cover had an ugly stain on it; somebody put a hot drink, or a similar hot object on the cover (what...?!) So I put a new coat on it, keeping some of the old materials — and charm! — of this little, but feature-packed Bible.

This Bible’s features:

- Book block: A classic Cambridge Cameo, with self-pronouncing text, cross-references, and Bible maps with index in the back.
- Cover: DARK BOTTLE GREEN ROUGH VEGETABLE TAN Goatskin from Italian Skins. You will love how this leather feels: strong, but soft and classy. I mimicked the original cover to a degree: kept the yapp length, added the tooled hubs and lines. I experimented with adding the 93Bibles logo to the cover, which turned out not so good, so I dropped the price I originally had in mind.
- Liner: WASHED PLUM VEGETABLE TAN Thick Goat by Italian Skins. A suede leather, perfectly fitting for this regal Bible.
- Ribbons, head and tail bands: I kept the original of these.
- Page dye: the original red under gold, heavily worn, but then this Bible was gifted to somebody in 1943...
